President’s Message – December 2024

by | Dec 3, 2024 | Uncategorized

As I write this message, I am reflecting with gratitude on my recent experiences and some of the highlights of being connected with you as members of our branch of AAUW. We started this year with a Leadership meeting in the warm shadow of Nancy Voelcker’s’ Weeping Willow tree. I was filled with excitement and hope for the coming year, and it has been so much better than I could imagine! From the Kickoff Picnic at the shelter in Camano Hills to the stormy night at the High School PAC, this has been an exciting endeavor!

I attended a state President’s meeting last Monday and was asked to relay to our branch members the idea of restarting, at the state level, an experience for college students who might be interested in learning firsthand about the workings of government. The original program, NCCWSL (National Conference for College Women Student Leaders), was designed to provide college students with opportunities to visit Washington, D.C. A revival of the program is under consideration and would focus on providing an experience in our own state capital. I was asked to present the idea to our branch membership. Your input is important!

We have several great activities coming up, be sure to mark your calendars! The Holiday Luncheon is just around the corner.

I hope you are staying warm, dry and healthy!
