Community Outreach and Scholarships
AAUW has been empowering women as individuals and as a community since 1881. For more than 130 years, we have worked together as a national grassroots organization to improve the lives of millions of women and their families. Our local, Stanwood-Camano branch was established in 1936 and continues to be a contributing partner to the Stanwood, Camano Island and Arlington communities. 2023 marks our 87th year.

High School STEM Recognition
Each spring, our branch recognizes outstanding local high school juniors for their achievements in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Candidates are nominated by their high school teachers and honored at a reception with their families and mentors hosted by our members.
Tech Trek
Established in 2013, AAUW-Washington Tech Trek is a sponsored science camp for girls entering the eighth grade. Girls are nominated by their middle school math and science teachers then go through a selection process with our branch Tech Trek Committee. The scholarship recipients attending the camp spend one week in college dorms with camp staff and explore hands-on activities in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). In 2024 our branch funded 6 Stanwood, Camano Island, and Arlington eighth grade girls to attend this camp.
