Our April 27, 2024 event enjoyed 135 members of our community gathering for a day of FUNdraising for our branch scholarship program. President Helen Smith and event chair Georgi Proulx expressed their gratitude for the support from the friends, families, and community that sustains the mission of AAUW Stanwood-Camano.
The proceeds raised from this event fund three $10,000 scholarships in 2024 and 2025 and will be celebrated at our annual Scholarship Awards Tea in June, 2024.
Due to the generosity of our community, our AAUW branch will also provide camperships for entering 8th grade girls from the Stanwood, Camano Island, Arlington, and Lakewood middle school girls to attend the AAUW Tech Trek week-long resident science camp in July. Girls experience living in the dorms of Pacific Lutheran University, hands-on science, field trips, and presentations by women in science during the evening program.
All proceeds from Purses with Purpose go towards our Tech Trek and university scholarships programs and our yearly contribution to the AAUW national organization.
